Names used across both US sex categories

Avery, Rowan, and Quinn appear in both female and male records in US naming data. That does not mean each name is equally common in both categories, or that a statistical category tells you anyone’s gender identity.

What puts these names together

A curated subset of the app’s neutral-name catalogue with published 2025 SSA observations in both female and male records. Counts of fewer than five are not published. This is a shortlist of 24 catalogue names, ordered by the larger published 2025 count across the two recorded-sex categories. It is not a complete list of every qualifying name.

How to compare them

Look at both counts rather than a neutral label alone. If balanced usage matters to you, compare the difference between the two counts. If it does not, use the data as context and choose the sound and spelling you prefer.
